Ingredient Admin

The Ask

Take a 20 year old web app and reduce the steep learning curve and inheret problems associated with a legacy application.

The Research

Since we knew there was a broad user group that had a diverse persona group, we knew we really had to focus on creating a product based on familiar ux patterns and best practices.

Given this was a multi-access tool with admin levels, we had to really focus on information architecture and user journey maps to capture all use-cases and solve for edge cases. We did a lot of interviews and discovery sessions with out users to include user feedback and undersrtand pain points.

The Approach

Our discovery meetings were pivotal in mapping out the user journeys which we leveraged Axure for low-fidelity prototypes. From there, we tested these designs and retained valueable feedback and were able to pivot effectively if needed.

We also knew there were several new features we would be introducing especially to the item management and ingredient/recipe tools.

The Result

The result was a user-centric tool that reduced onboarding time in half that allowed cafeteria workers to quickly access recipes, ingredients and manage inventory. It also allowed tracking of state inspections, employee management and admin configurations.
